Techno’s unassuming maestro Donato Dozzy returns to Tresor Records with another flawless subversion of dancefloor expectations. Having already mastered his devotion to the Roland TB-303 to full effect on 2018’s Filo Loves The Acid, there’s a distinctly different vibe going on 124. Dozzy’s keen sense for hypnotic minimalism is still present and correct, as a slew of glassy sonics takes flight on the likes of ‘messy kafka world’. Meanwhile, ‘synthi chase’ and ‘cassiopea 36’ channel Dozzy’s past efforts with tangy acid flavours, approaching choppy discordant stabs with a composer’s ear for melody and rhythm.
